Height is desirable, too. A flat garden is restricted in the interest it gives, although height can be achieved through careful placement of trees and plants. A pergola, however, gives a permanent, solid anchor around which to base other design features such as patios, paths, water features and planting. And, of course, the use of climbing plants can be a huge bonus, adding both beauty and fragrance. Pergolas are inviting. We are drawn to them, whether it is to walk through them or relax under their canopy on a warm summer’s day.
With the cafe blinds you can either get the long bullet head nails and bang them into the beam through the holes in the wooden top of the cafe blinds and secure them like that or get hanging plant hooks and hook them onto a beam with those.
I used charcoal coloured cafe blinds at my home as they appealed to me at the time. Then I put up curtain rods in front of these and went to a Reject Shop and bought gorgeous sheer curtains to hang up in front of the blinds. It gave a softer more appealing look to the deck.
I don’t watch a lot of TV because I hate how the commercials waste so much of my time; I buy DVD’s with the complete TV series and watch them uninterrupted. I always pay attention to the beautiful houses and the landscaping and special features they have. Miami CSI features a lot of water front properties and they always have stunning pergolas with fluttery drapes that float about in the breeze. I have always thought they looked fantastic. They conjure up ambience, romance and stylish living. I have always wanted to create this effect around a pergola of my own.
